Watching sports in Australia is set to get more expensive as beIN SPORTS and Foxtel part ways.
beIN SPORTS (Ch. 513, 514 and 515) will be dropped by Foxtel and Kayo after June 30th, ending 7 years on the Foxtel platform.
The move follows the Qatari-owned provider recently losing the rights to International Rugby, Six Nations Rugby, Champions League and LaLiga.
Foxtel Group has announced that beIN SPORTS will no longer be available on Foxtel’s linear channels or via its on demand services after 30 June 2023.
That means if you subscribed to Foxtel or Kayo to watch certain sporting leagues and events, you might need to change or add another streaming service to the mix.
A statement from Foxtel said, “We constantly evaluate programming and channels and have made the decision not to renew our partnership with beIN SPORTS.”
The good news is that you can still access beIN Sports even after it leaves Foxtel and Kayo.
How do I watch beIN SPORTS after it leaves Foxtel and Kayo?
If you still want to watch beIN SPORTS after 1 July 2023, you’ll need to subscribe to its streaming platform which costs $19.99 a month.
New customers get a 1-week free trial.
Alternatively, you can get the annual package for $179.99 after discount. It usually costs $239.88.
Existing Foxtel customers will be able to access a discount to sign up to beIN SPORTS CONNECT, with more details to come. See link below for discounted prices
Is beIN SPORTS CONNECT worth it?
That depends what sports you’re interested in watching, as beIN SPORTS has exclusive rights to a few different competitions.
If you watch the European football leagues such as Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 or the Scottish Premiership, then yes, you’ll need to subscribe to beIN .
Likewise if you follow Premier League clubs Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester United and watched their own TV channels, then they’re also only with beIN.
Elsewhere, you’ll also need to subscribe to it if you’re a tennis enthusiast and want to catch the ATP and WTA tennis tournaments throughout the year.
But if these aren’t sports or tournaments you care about then you can skip signing up to beIN SPORTS CONNECT and the additional costs that come with it.
