Hands up if you have ever been to Macca’s wanting just a Small Cheeseburger and walking out with a Large Fries and Coke?
Probably most of you but dont despair, its all a part of business life called Marketing and Upsell
In the Telecommunication space, its no different and from my perspective, the best in Class when it comes to upsell is TELSTRA
Now let me qualify my statement so as not to give you the impression I am anti TELSTRA. That is not true
If anything, I have found their services and on shore support to be very reliable albeit more expensive than the other providers in market but I do still rate TELSTRA highly in the right circumstances for the right customer
However, what I have found in my travels looking at hundreds of TELSTRA customer bills is the amount of paid “extra services” that many of the customers either did not know about and/or use.
In some case these extras only amounted to $5 a month to $40 a month but do the maths and over the long term, the costs really start to add up and if you are NOT using them, then it is money wasted in my opinion
I recently helped a family in Strathfield and looked at their bill with many of these additional charges
When I asked them about them, they did noy know what they were and also did not know what the extra charges entitled them to!!
I think that in many of these cases where TELSTRA customers have these extra charges, most of these would have been the result of a person in store or on the phone “upselling” these to the customer
So if you do have these extra charges and are happy to keep paying TELSTRA the additional money, then rising interest rates and cost of living clearly does not worry you
However, if you look at your TELSTRA Bill and see items like
- TELSTRA ONE NUMBER
- TELSTRA STAY CONNECTED
- TELSTRA INTERNATIONAL ULTIMATE
- TELSTRA INTERNATIONAL SAVER
- TELSTRA INTERNATIONAL PLUS
- TELSTRA PLATINUM SUPPORT
- SHARED DATA SIM PLANS
- TELSTRA PRIORITY ASSIST
- TELSTRA SPEED BOOST
These all have additional costs to your Bill ( apart from Priority Assist)
So again, especially in these times of higher prices and cost of living pressures, take the time to review your Bills and make sure that you are only paying for what you want and use.
For many of you, TELSTRA is a great choice but not if you are paying 20% for product and services you dont need!!
As always, if you or a family member has a Bill with items on it that you dont quite understand, give me a call to sort it out for you
