Another reminder to review how much you are spending on your NBN Internet and Mobile Phones as the prices will be rising again in July for Telstra customers.

With plans starting at 129 per month for NBN 1000 and 150 per month for other options, Telstra is set to implement notable changes to its pricing.

Here’s a comparison of the old and new plans:

Speed Tier

NBN 25

$89 per month

$93 per month

NBN 50

$105 per month

$109 per month

NBN 100

$113 per month

NBN 250

$129 per month

NBN 1000

$150 per month

$139 per month

These updates will impact both new and existing customers, with the new rates taking effect from the first bill in July.

As Telstra adjusts its prices in response to rising NBN wholesale costs starting July 1, we expect similar adjustments from other providers in the industry.

Recently, Tangerine also announced price increases on its more affordable NBN plans, raising them by two to three dollars monthly while simultaneously reducing the cost of its NBN 1000 plan.

Even though prices are climbing, many service providers continue to offer enticing introductory discounts for new customers, typically lasting between six months and a year.

Since most NBN plans are contract-free, switching between these promotional offers can be an effective way to manage your NBN expenses.

Additionally, Telstra will be increasing prices on some of its postpaid mobile plans beginning July 1, with hikes of up to five dollars per month.

As a result, the most economical mainline postpaid option will soon be priced at $70 per month, without any added data benefits.

Here’s a summary of the upcoming changes to Telstra’s core postpaid plans, known as Upfront plans:

Here’s how Telstra’s core postpaid plans – known as Upfront plans – are changing:

Plan

Old Pricing

New Pricing

Basic (50GB)

$65 per month

$70 per month

Essential (180GB)

$75 per month

$80 per month

Premium (300GB)

$99 per month

$99 per month

  • Basic (50GB) will rise from 65 to 70 per month
  • Essential (180GB) will increase from 75 to 80 per month
  • Premium (300GB) will remain at 99 per month.

There is also a more affordable “Starter” postpaid plan that will stay at 50 per month, but it only provides 5GB of data. This plan is not widely promoted, so customers need to contact Telstra directly to request it, either through phone, the Telstra app, or in-store.

Furthermore, the price of Telstra’s “Bundle” plan will go up from 52 to 57 per month, allowing customers with an Essential or Premium plan to add a family member at a reduced rate.

However, this option is unavailable for those on the Basic plan.

Currently, Telstra is not increasing the prices of its prepaid plans.

Similarly, rival Optus raised its postpaid mobile plan prices for new customers in late April, with existing customers facing the new rates starting from their first bill after June 4.
