Optus is now offering $5 a day international roaming to more than 100 countries along with unlimited standard talk and text within these eligible destinations and it is a serious alternative now to VODAFONE with their $5 a day International Plan

Whether you prefer sight-seeing, relaxing or action-packed adventure, everybody loves overseas travel. Optus $5 Roaming gets you 5GB of data per day plus unlimited standard talk and text within eligible Zone 1 destinations. Available with Optus Choice Plus, Optus Plus Family & Optus Plus Promo plans. Fair Go Policy applies.

This offer only applies to those newer Post Paid Plans ( OPTUS CHOICE, OPTUS PLUS FAMILY and OPTUS PLUS PROMO) so make sure that you check to see which Plan you are currently on.

Included data usage per day within the offer is restricted to 5GB a day but in my eyes, this is more than you need especially when travelling abroad.

If the customer goes over their 5GB limit they will be charged another $5 for an additional 5GB to use that day.

Vodafone has had $5 day roaming for years and is available in more countries than Optus – Optus has 102 countries compared to Vodafone’s 107.

Vodafone also allows customers to use as much of their included plan data as they like while Optus restricts this to 5GB a day.

The Optus $5 a day roaming is available to customers on the Optus Choice plans.

Just in January 2023 alone there were more 300,000 active Optus customers that travelled overseas.

“Traveling overseas can be a life-changing experience and half the fun is sharing that experience with friends and family back at home, as well as being able to stay connected with your travel buddies in a foreign country,” says Optus’ Managing Director of Marketing & Revenue, Matt Williams.

“With Optus’ $5 a day Roaming, we have created our easiest and most convenient roaming product yet, which also comes at a great value price point.”

For those of you not on one of these new Plans, Optus does have some compelling alternatives such as

Optus $10 Roaming Pass

What is the Optus Roaming Pass I hear you ask?
The $10 Roaming Pass gives you 1GB data and unlimited national talk and text for 24 hours to over 100 Zone 1 destinations. Available to customers on selected postpaid plans.
In my mind, not as good as the $5 a day offer but it may suit some of you?
Its just good to see that Vodafone have some competition from Optus  in this space and I can see the day that Telstra offers something similar just to stay competitive.
As always, give me a call if you need more information on how this will work for you,
