There is a new TELCO in town that has the potential to shift the way we think about our NBN Internet services.
The name of the new TELCO is BUDDY. https://www.buddytelco.com.au/
Cute and catchy name but more than that, the selling point with BUDDY is price and cost saving.
Many of you will recall the days of airline travel where you would pay for your ticket which included a small meal and beverage.
However, in more recent times, if you wanted that meal or beverage, you needed to whip out your credit card and pay $20 odd dollars for that sandwich and same for that beer or wine!
Think of Buddy as that cheap ticket flight without the meal
You are simply paying for the internet connection but instead of a meal, what Buddy does not include is telephone support.
Buddy basically use the very popular Aussie Broadband infrastructure without the Telephone support 7 days a week.
In fact, Buddy customers do have ON LINE CHAT support Moday to Friday as below
Ran into an issue that needs some extra attention? It’s easy to speak to one of our Australian-based team members via Live Chat in the Buddy Telco app or portal. Our team is available Monday to Friday 9am–5pm (AWST), 11am–7pm (AEST).
The cost savings per month are quite significant especially if you are already with a big TELCO such as TELSTRA or OPTUS.
Even if you are already an Aussie Broadband Customer, your monthly savings can range from $10 to a whopping $30 depending on the plan you are on.
That works out to be a saving of $120 to $360 over the year.
Lets be clear, BUDDY is NOT for everyone but if you are OK with chat and no telephone support, then why not?
The other downsides to BUDDY
- they do not support VOIP services so if you wanted to use a Landline as well, then maybe BUDDY is not for you.
- They do not sell Modems but they will help you to configure your existing Modem or any new Modem you purchase yourself.
- The ON LINE chat support is also not available on weekends
But on the plus side, the cost savings are fantastic considering you are using the same NBN / INTERNET infrasctructure that Aussie Broadband uses!!
The ON LINE Chat support are Australian Based.
Have a look at what you are spending today with your current provider and then have a look at the Buddy website and see what you could be saving

I know that you all miss those light meals that you used to get on airlines but you became used to not having that sandwich after a while because you were happy to pay less overall for the ticket.
Maybe, this is the same Business Model that Buddy are hoping will work for them??
